Mesmers and Paragon useless?! O'Rly?

Vanguished entire game with 2 hero Mesmers and 2 hero Paragons in my team

Warrior (me)
MM (hero)
Mesmer - Norgu (Illusion+Dom mesmer, Ineptitude Elite)
Paragon (damage booster)
Monk (friend)
Mesmer - Norgu (Dom mesmer, Power Block elite)
Monk - Dunkoro
Paragon hero (party support)

Was easy as hell, most areas felt like normal mode

We took 2 mesmers (Norgus) into vanguishing Deissa Lowlands - Flame temple -> Dragon Gullet - NOT A SINGLE Death Nova, Amimate or Meteor Shower finished casting by foes, NOT A SINGLE one

Is very, very hard to believe that with basically only two damage delers directly W +MM and one (Dom) indirect, you really VQ all game! There are so many areas with so many mobs that is no way the build to be effective, either because no corps for MM, either due to the varaety of mobs that will simple wipe the team w/o even to realize what happens.

Form experience: there no fix team that will work in all areas. This is something that Anet really take good care in HM, forcing the user to be more flexible and dynamic to be successfull!! Besides, your exaples - really simple areas!

Yes , cause they are so useless that they can interupt dozen of spells preventing your team from dying, but hé you can't see that can you? only the mesmer will know.

granted that mesmers are a bit worse in PvE where you don't need shutdown, interuption or anti hexes most of the time.

Are 4 minion skills really necessary? Personally I find that a little overkill.

My current preferred MM build looks like:

Well, what I wrote was actually badly worded - we did vanguish entire game, most of it with two mesmers in team, that is what should have been written. And of course you're right, that wasnt the only team setup we used - for instance, we had 3 warriors (me, koss, goren) for Lagoon in Tyria (those 8-12 chained Cries of Frustration didnt leave a chance to cast anything), once we took 2 MMs (by mistake :-) and steam-rolled Silent Surf in Cantha, 2 hybrid Fire/Smite eles for Rotscale, many areas I just hero+henched, in some areas damage paragon hero was kicked for a friend - SS necro. Plus there are lots of 4-men, 6-men party areas there as well

As for the damage.. mesmers do armour ignoring damage as opposed to elementalists, just take a look how much damage this spells can inflict and prevent:

Olias: [skill]Virulence[/skill] - > [skill]Epidemic[/skill]

Deep Wound + Poison + Disease + Weakness to all adjacent

and then you just

[skill]Flail[/skill] + [skill]Triple Chop[/skill] + [skill]Cyclone Axe[/skill] + [skill]Executioner's Strike[/skill] non stop

But it sure is fun to disrupt someone casting a spell by casting the same spell right back at them. Example- Meteor Shower having your spell interrupt and damage them before they get the spell off is priceless.
